  • Baghdad Embassy Infrastructure Upgrade Project (BESF)

    The project consisted of both remedial and expansion construction work. Electrical work included connecting the Baghdad Embassy (BESF) camp to the existing New Embassy Compound (NEC) Medium Voltage Power Plant and then balancing the camps load distribution on two of the New Embassy Compound (NEC) MV feeders. This included removing one of two camp existing generators in each of the five zones and replacing them with a pad mounted transformer which connected to the site electrical distribution system.

    The VBC East project consisted of a Prime Power site and extensive overhead distribution network to be designed and constructed. This site also had the added complexity of requiring two large switchgear systems, the first rated at 40 MW at 11KV and the second, the main load sharing switch, 100MW at 11 KV.

    Embassy West Design/Build

    This project consisted of design and construction services for the Baghdad Embassy West Life Support and Service facilities project. Arkel designed, procured and constructed the Refugee in-take center / RSO Support office including integrated overhead cover. Designed, procured and constructed dog kennels and associated facilities. Designed, procured and installed the IT/TSS/Telecommunications fiber links from the main embassy compound to Embassy West and to the embassy heliport.

  • Construction of Training Facilities


    Location: Majnoon Oil Field, Basra, Iraq

    Construction of Training Facilities

    Arkel’s responsibilities included the construction of a Training Facility on the Majnoon Oil Field near Basra, Iraq. The Training Facility included classrooms, a workshop, offices, shot blasting area, forklift and crane training area, dining hall, fire training area, and security buildings. Arkel was also responsible for the installation of all utilities including power, water, sewer, fuel and IT/Comms. The facility included fencing and t-walls for perimeter security.

  • Zaitoon Camp Expansion


    Location: Majnoon Oil Field, Basra, Iraq

    Zaitoon Camp Expansion

    Arkel was responsible for the design and construction of an expansion to the Zaitoon Camp on the Majnoon Oil Field near Basra, Iraq. The work included adding 30 living units, expansion of the kitchen facilities, addition of a clinic, recreational room and offices. Arkel also upgraded the existing power generation, power distribution, water storage, and sewer distribution.

  • Baghdad Master Plan Implementation at FOB Prosperity

    Arkel provided a design build solution for government housing, control facilities, guard facilities, civil infrastructure, mechanical systems including fire protection, fuel systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems including generation and distribution, and security system including perimeter security, intruder detection, guard towers, CCTV cameras, and associated instrumentation and controls.

  • Design/Construction of Duar Divisional Headquarters, AFRICAP

    Arkel was contracted to support the construction of a Division Headquarters, a 1000 man compound, for the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) in south Sudan, under the Africa Peacekeeping Program (AFRICAP). Specific project scope was for the installation of site infrastructure and completed civil and ground works located on a Greenfield in the remote town of Duar, Sudan. Arkel designed the infrastructure and all utilities, procured all mechanical and electrical systems, and installed them.

  • Pioneer Camp Design and Construction


    Location: Baghdad, Iraq

    Pioneer Camp Design and Construction

    Arkel was responsible for the design and construction of the Pioneer Camp on the Majnoon Oil Field near Basra, Iraq. The camp consisted of 80 single client rooms and a mixture of double and quad units for the Operations & Maintenance contractor. Total occupancy of the camp is 200 people. Arkel installed all of the utility and infrastructure systems including power generation, fuel storage, water storage/supply, sewer, IT/Comms, security and access control.

  • Construction of Infrastructure Facilities


    Location: Majnoon Oil Field, Basra, Iraq

    Construction of Infrastructure Facilities

    This project consisted of the infrastructure facilities to support the future production plant on the Majnoon Oil Field near Basra, Iraq. These facilities included a sewage treatment plant, incinerator and waste management facility, and fuel dispensing station. Arkel also installed two warehouses, clinic, fire shed, chemical storage building and other support buildings. Arkel installed an access point that includes vehicle and pedestrian airlocks for entry into the production facility. Arkel was responsible for the earthworks, concrete and utility scopes for all locations.

  • Harvest Eagle


    Location: Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan

    Harvest Eagle

    Site Prep, Erection of Tents, Force Protection and Tent Flooring – Arkel’s Construction Team at Camp Leatherneck successfully completed the Harvest Eagle project. This is a significant accomplishment in that the project was completed ahead of schedule, completed in a season of incredible heat and environmental challenges, in a location that has had many inherent supply chain obstacles and under budget. The Arkel team built a compound consisting of 144 tents surrounded by concrete barriers and included separate flooring, HVAC and all power requirements all in less than 36 days!

  • AFRICAP, Establishing SPLA Medical Services

    Arkel was responsible for constructing medical trainee housing and our employer’s camp. We provided operations & maintenance of the camp and four warehouses assessment of 15 existing medical facilities for the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) under the Africa Peacekeeping Program (AFRICAP).
