Arkel was contracted to support the construction of a Division Headquarters, a 1000 man compound, for the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) in south Sudan, under the Africa Peacekeeping Program (AFRICAP). Specific project scope was for the installation of site infrastructure and completed civil and ground works located on a Greenfield in the remote town of Duar, Sudan. Arkel designed the infrastructure and all utilities, procured all mechanical and electrical systems, and installed them.

Site Prep, Erection of Tents, Force Protection and Tent Flooring – Arkel’s Construction Team at Camp Leatherneck successfully completed the Harvest Eagle project. This is a significant accomplishment in that the project was completed ahead of schedule, completed in a season of incredible heat and environmental challenges, in a location that has had many inherent supply chain obstacles and under budget. The Arkel team built a compound consisting of 144 tents surrounded by concrete barriers and included separate flooring, HVAC and all power requirements all in less than 36 days!

The VBC East project consisted of a Prime Power site and extensive overhead distribution network to be designed and constructed. This site also had the added complexity of requiring two large switchgear systems, the first rated at 40 MW at 11KV and the second, the main load sharing switch, 100MW at 11 KV.

Arkel managed design and installation of the entire plant, including design and construction of the main power site, 12 Kilometers of 11KV overhead network and 21 HV substations.
